Meeting to determine future of LOC

On Friday,  September 9, 2011, at 3 p.m. the LOC Board will meet at the Roane Alliance in Kingston (directions below) to vote on whether or not to dissolve the LOC.  This action has divided the Board and prompted feedback and news coverage from the communities that we serve.  The primary piece of business under consideration is a resolution drafted by Oak Ridge Mayor Tom Beehan.

The meeting is open to the public.  It will be held in the downstairs conference room.

If you are unable to attend, you can contact your County Mayor/County Executive (and the Mayor of the City of Oak Ridge if you are a city resident) regarding your opinion on the proposed action.

If you have any questions, please contact the LOC office by calling (865) 604-3724.

LOC Executive Director

Directions to Roane Alliance, 1209 N. Kentucky St, Kingston:

If you come on I-40, take the Kingston exit.  At the foot of the ramp on Kentucky, turn AWAY from downtown Kingston.  Roane Alliance is in the first building on the left.  There is a sign which says Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center as well as Roane Alliance.  It’s a building with siding and brick, looks like one story from the front but there is a lower level as the property drops away to the lake.  Our meeting is downstairs and there is parking down there, accessed by a drive on the left side of the building.

If you come on 58, stay on 58 (which should also be Kentucky) through the downtown portion of Kingston.  Go under the I-40 overpass. Roane Alliance is in the first building on the left.  See description above.
